In late 2020 my wife (Patti) and I (Lou) contacted Shirley Mattam-Male to help us with the sale of our home in Virginia. Now I will tell you that in my life God has placed wonderful people in my path. This was no exception. From our first meeting I could tell Shirley wanted what we wanted. It wasn’t very far into our conversation and travel throughout the house and the outside that I discovered her love for God and His Son Jesus Christ. I mention that because I knew from the start that her love for her clients and brothers and sisters of God would be the driving force behind her dedication and commitment to her clients. She walked us through the entire process and made recommendations for the home to get it ready. We, Patti and I, initially decided to discuss the options we were offered following our initial meeting. Time just kept going and we decided to put our faith in God that the person we had selected (Shirley) would do for us what we needed to do to prepare the house for the best possible outcome. We were not prepared to ask for more that the market would bear and it turns out Shirley’s heart was not only in the outcome for Patti and I but for the person who would be purchasing the house. Once again strengthening our testimony that God had sent her to us. We followed her counsel on almost everything and it turns out we should have taken all of Shirley’s advice for the very reasons I outlined earlier. She was not extravagant in her requests. She knows that a well-cared for home requires upgrades that will carry it forward into the future. Again, looking at the new buyers needs as well as our own. She steered us in the right direction from beginning to end. I am so happy to say we now have a long-term relationship because of her kindness and deep concern for others. The best day and the saddest day was the day the house was sold. We lost daily contact with a special realtor and a beautiful person. I want to thank my loving Father in Heaven for sending us an angel to act on our behalf. Thank you Shirley for everything.

Our plan was ambitious. We wanted to buy another house first, and then sell our current one – buy low now and sell high later. Friends recommended we ask Shirley to be our realtor. At our first meeting, we recognized her as a top professional. Better still, we sensed that we could trust her. And we were right. Our plan was less than optimum for a realtor, and the time of year did not bode well either. But Shirley took it on and did her best with it. Her best turned out to be exceptional. She led a select team which, as we came to know them, regarded her with as much esteem as we did. Working with Shirley was an absolutely dream! We were referred to her by a friend after having a frustrating experience with a realtor from one of the big real estate sites, and we knew by the end of our informal intro call with Shirley that she was in a different league. Buying a house is complicated & exhausting & stressful, especially in a competitive market where it's almost inevitable that you'll get your heart broken at least once -- if not over & over for months -- but Shirley made the experience as easy on us as possible. She guided us through each step of the process with expertise and empathy; I always felt like she truly had our backs. I was floored by the amount of work that Shirley did on our behalf -- and how quickly she would do it. Whenever we expressed interest in a property, she would be on the phone with the listing agent in less time than it took me to type "Hey Shirley, can we see this house?" She also tracked down documents that we never would've known to look for, like the structural assessment report on a home that we hadn't even toured yet but she knew I was excited about. She always made sure that we had as much information and context as possible, which helped us immensely in making decisions. When it came to submitting offers, Shirley was always realistic about our chances, but strategic too -- she made sure we understood our options & helped us put together competitive bids, without ever pressuring us to go beyond our price range or make concessions that we weren't comfortable with. She was gentle in breaking bad news but always remained upbeat and encouraging. When we eventually did put down a winning offer, Shirley was just as helpful in navigating us through the maze of paperwork & money transfers that stood between us & getting the keys to our new home. Truly, we couldn't have asked for a better partner in the home-buying process.

All this resulted in a sale within 9 days on the market, and at the asking price - something else Shirley thought out with considerable care and talked over with me prior to our agreeing on it.
