Washington, DC, Fourth of July Celebration | July 4

DC area National Parks

Our nation’s capital is an exciting place to celebrate Independence Day. Join the many patriotic festivities in honor of America’s birthday, visit memorials dedicated to those who served our country, or enjoy recreational opportunities in one of the many DC area national parks. Highlights include:

  • National Independence Day Parade | 11:45 AM–2 PM, Constitution Avenue
  • Operation Independence! Family Scavenger Hunt | 1–8 PM, Sylvan Theater
  • Independence Day Junior Ranger | 1–8 PM, any National Park Service information tent
  • Ranger Talk – Jefferson & Adams: Founding Friends, Fierce Rivals | 2–4 PM & 6 PM, Thomas Jefferson Memorial
  • A Capitol Fourth Concert | 8–9:30 PM, West Lawn of the United States Capitol
  • Fireworks on the National Mall | 9:09–9:27 PM

 

Christmas in July Festival | July 12

Front Royal Visitors Center

If you’re looking for a day of good old-fashioned fun and Americana, check out the 6th Annual Christmas in July Festival! Shop local vendors, crafters, and makers, all while enjoying live music. There will even be a chance for kids to take a picture with Santa! 

 

Alexandria’s Birthday | July 12, 6-9:45PM

Oronoco Bay Park, Alexandria, VA

The City will celebrate its 276th and the USA’s 249th birthday on Saturday, July 12, at Oronoco Bay Park (100 Madison St.). Experience this one-of-a-kind Alexandria event with your family. The evening includes live music, food and drink vendors, and ends with the grand finale — a fireworks display on the Potomac River at 9:30 p.m. 

 

Lotus & Water Lily Festival | July 18-20

Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, Washington, DC

The summer lotus and lily blossoms are a “must-see” during their peak blooming period in July, not unlike viewing the cherry blossoms in the spring. We hope you will take the chance to visit this DC gem.

Loudon County Fair | July 22-26

Summertime is county fair season with live music, great food, fun rides, and of course cute farm animals! You can even enter your home-grown produce or pie in a competition. The 2025 Loudoun County Fair is a great place to gather with friends and family.

Mubadala Citi DC Open – Tennis Tournament | July 19–27

Fitzgerald Tennis Center, Washington, DC

Falling between Wimbledon and the U.S. Open, this tournament brings some of the world’s best men’s and women’s tennis players to DC. It’s also a great chance to see future Grand Slam Champions.

For many of us, there are few things as enjoyable as listening to live music, and we are fortunate that the DMV has a variety of venues that attract artists and audiences of all sizes and musical tastes.

 

Diana Krall | July 3, 8PM

Filene Center Venue at Wolf Trap, Vienna, VA

Fans will have “The Look of Love” in their eyes when Grammy-winning jazz pianist and singer Diana Krall brings her “cool and sultry” voice (The New York Times) to Wolf Trap. Krall’s rich, honeyed vocals and tender piano melodies on songs such as “Let’s Fall in Love,” “Night and Day,” and “The Look of Love” have made her a true musical force and one of the most accomplished and distinctive musicians in the world today.

Musical Performance with the U.S. Army Brass Quintet | July 4, 11 AM

Washington National Cathedral, Washington, DC

You’re invited to the Cathedral on July 4th for a free performance featuring the US Army Band “Pershing’s Own” Brass Quintet and Timpani and Cathedral Organist Thomas Sheehan. Livestream is available.

Contemporary American Theater Festival | July 11 – August 3

Shepherd University, Shepherdstown, WV

The Contemporary American Theater Festival produces the newest plays in America, in the oldest town in West Virginia. Discover the ultimate theater experience in historic Shepherdstown. This year’s festival features five plays and a variety of talk theater events.
