Jeffery McGlothlin is a Northern Virginia native and 9th Generation Virginian, a background that brings with it vast knowledge of neighborhoods both inside and outside the Beltway and an innate sense of local real estate and development trends. Following his family's legacy of dedication to civic and community involvement at the age of 18 he became the youngest member of an elected board in the United States. Despite his deep roots in the Old Dominion, he has also traveled extensively, including a stint at Oxford University, where he studied for his pre-law curriculum degree in Government and Politics. During college, he interned on Capitol Hill for Vice President Al Gore when he was in the House of Representatives as well as worked for Senator John Warner of Virginia. Following graduation he joined an Old Town Alexandria law firm before deciding to pursue his true passion, architecture, opening his own design/build firm at the age of 25. After constructing and marketing over 50 homes in the area he joined McEnearney Associates.
He joined the firm in August of the calendar year and became a Multi-Million Dollar Producer by year's end and subsequently became the #1 agent in the Old Town office. He has stayed in the top tier of McEnearney agents and is an NVAR Lifetime Top Producer. He has had 11 successful Potomac Riverfront sales, represented the sale of the Alexandria Decorator Showhouse, listed and sold the George Washington townhouse, and has repeatedly had the highest annual sale in the area - most recently selling Guiffre-Simmons house in Old Town Alexandria in one day for 5.1 million, the highest sale in the City of Alexandria for 2022... His real estate expertise has not been limited to Northern Virginia having marketed homes from the Shenandoah Valley to the Piedmont to the Tidewater... and beyond. He advised the estate of Lucille Ball during the sale of her home in Beverly Hills, California. He has been quoted for his analysis of the real estate market by Washingtonian magazine, the Washington Post, the New York Times, and the Wall Street Journal. Always ahead of marketing trends, he was the first agent in Alexandria to market through direct mail as well as the first to have his own website. When it comes to marketing, Jeffery's philosophy is that homes are not sold, they are bought and knows the key is exposure to as many people as possible through varied media and extensive personal networks. The experience he brings from hundreds of transactions has served his purchasers in good stead as well which is reflected in their testimonials.
He met his wife, Kate Alexander, a native of Alexandria, in Moscow when both were on a post-grad Russian studies tour. They live in Mount Vernon and have one son, Alexander McGlothlin, an alumnus of the Thomas Jefferson High School for Science & Technology and the University of Virginia. Their family is completed by Cooper McGlothlin, a popular black pug, who is also well-known in the Alexandria real estate community.
