It’s the most wonderful time of the year—it’s pie season! While we eat pies year round, Thanksgiving is when we give them a true pride of place at the table. Pumpkin, pecan, apple…they are all delicious. There’s still time to order your favorite from one of these local pie, pastry, and dessert shops in the Washington metro area – it’s a great way to support local businesses and share some love with those we care about.

Rise Gluten-Free Bakery

Stop by Rise Bakery for an incredible selection of gluten-free and vegan options. Their pies are made with extra love and must be ordered at least 2 days in advance before 1:45 pm. Do you know someone who always has difficulty finding delicious desserts due to dietary restrictions? We might suggest the Vegan Apple Pie – it’s gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free, nut-free, and flavor-full!

Pie Shop is an independent woman-owned small business that has been baking some of DC’s favorite pies since 2010. The menu includes sweet pies, savory pies, and quiches. It’s also an independent live music venue dedicated to supporting the area’s vibrant local music & arts community. We think the whole family will love the Chocolate Pecan pie.

Henry’s is often ranked as one of the best shops in Bethesda. At the top of our favorites is always the pie of the day, and we’ll include the quiche selections too – ham & cheese and spinach & feta, yum!

You’ll also find a lovely selection of tarts, classic pies, and other pastries. Orders for pick up the week of Thanksgiving – Tuesday 11/21 & Wednesday 11/22, Must be placed before Friday 11/17.

Bakeshop offers a grand selection including Nutella, Peanut Butter, Coconut Cream, and Key Lime. Don’t worry, they haven’t left out our favorite classic pies – Pumpkin, Pecan, and Apple.

A Northern Virginia favorite (and highly recommended by many of our Vienna-based agents), Pie Gourmet has been serving homemade artisan pies and baked goods since 1987. They offer a wide variety of savory pies and quiches in addition to fruit pies. Don’t forget to try out the chocolate pecan – a unique variation of the Southern classic!

Stop by Mom’s for a treat that will make you think you went straight to the orchard. Mom’s grows as much of their own ingredients as possible. Red Truck Bakery

Billed as America’s Favorite Rural Bakery, Red Truck is a destination with cafes in Marshall and Warrenton. They offer seasonal favorites like pumpkin, apple, pecan, Virginia peanut, and sweet potato pie. They also ship nationwide. Throw in one of their cookbooks as a gift and you are all set.
